Farm Manager Position

Moore Hebert Dressage is in search of a farm manager for a progressive, safe dressage barn in a suburb of Washington, DC in Germantown, Maryland (one of the top ten most diverse cities in the country). Hilary Moore Hebert offers training, instruction and coaching from intro level dressage to Grand Prix. She is a USDF gold, silver and bronze medalist and USDF "L" graduate. Housing provided and required, as we need an on-location member of the team to supervise daily tasks and provide on-call help when needed (sick horse, absent employee).

Duties

  • Management of 22-stall training barn with 12 horses on property. All are privately owned by adult amateurs who ride in full training with farm owner/head trainer

  • Supervise, schedule and assist a diverse staff who turn in/out, feed, blanket and clean stalls/barn. Best candidate won’t be afraid of work and join in with shifts, so morning chores can get done on days the vet is coming in, there is a clinic.

  • Coordinate feed, hay, bedding orders, farrier and vet maintenance schedule

  • Schedule and check in with landscape and plowing crew to maintain pastures, fencing and lawn around barn

  • Maintain dressage arena/indoor - drag, water and coordinate deep cleaning

Skills and Experience

Best Candidate has at least five years experience working full-time at barns, holds a proven record of managing a small staff and coordinating service providers, has an ability to lift at least 50 pounds, and interacts professionally with clients. Knowledge of first aid, trailering, tractor and maintenance, needed.

Compensation and Housing

Salary is mid/high-five figures, three weeks paid summer vacation and housing.
